“Broken-Hearted” (2020) is a cover art design and visualizer I created for Chicago producer and rapper KYWN. The instrumental's bouncy drums and retro-sounding synths give it an energetic and dramatic quality that also feels video game-esque. I decided to lean into this, going for an 8-bit aesthetic with the blocked title treatment, heart sprite, and health bar. As the instrumental plays, the heart beats at a steady rhythm before shattering at the drop and finally coming back together to repeat the loop.
